On the weekend of August 4-6 2006, the 15th Anniversary of the Ames Performance Tri Power Pontiac Nationals was held at Norwalk Raceway Park in Norwalk Ohio. On the Sunday of the event, Michael Angelo Campolucci drove his father's Stallion Motorsports Inc. 455ci Alcohol Injected 1996 Pontiac Grand Prix into the winner's circle. He qualified into the field of the Kauffman Racing Equipment Q16 (fastest sixteen cars) at the number four position with a blistering 8.46 @ 159 mph thanks to the great crew chiefing job by Maurizio Campolucci. This is not only the biggest, but most prestigious Pontiac race in the world and Michael is the first Canadian and youngest driver to win this race in his rookie season of racing.
We would like to thank all the people who supported our race team over the years and truly made this all possible. Thanks to Mitch Markusich from Pro Racing Fuels in Streetsville Ontario, Eric Donovan who put the car and engine together and did a great job, Sierra Excavating Enterprises Inc., Mark and Jeff from Kauffman Racing Equipment, Stallion Motorsports Inc., Camp-Maur Racing, Mauro Campolucci, Quinn Construction, Trimm Signs, Tom Magyar, Mike Voycey, Albion Golf Cars, Tino Scardetta, Hutch's Transmission, Ron Mayfield, Martin Shaw, Roy and Mike McKinney, Adam Chainello, Wayne Robertson, Dwayne Young,CMSports.com, Tony Lenti, Don Ness, Pete Stamm, Joe Spada, Tony Positano, Dale Banton, Frank Rosati, TPI Automotive National Car Center, Steve Ames, Pete Woodruff, Bill Bader Jr. and Steve Ames.
